The Murder of Leota Camp

On July 10th, 1967, 25 year old mother of three, Leota Camp, was found by her young children, stabbed and bleeding in a small bedroom of the family’s home in Des Moines, Iowa. There was no sign of a robbery, forced entry, or sexual assault. In short, there doesn't seem to be a motive, and the attack happened when family and neighbors were within earshot. What has become one of Iowa’s most mysterious cold cases, the murder of Leota Camp still haunts her family and friends to this day.  Anyone with information about Leota Camp’s unsolved murder can contact the Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation at (515) 725-6010 or email at dciinfo@dps.state.ia.us. America's First Serial Killers

Image
America's First Serial Killers Considered to be the first American serial killers, Micajah and Wiley Harpe were born in North Carolina in the mid to late 1700s and became notorious for their violent crimes in Kentucky and Tennessee. They are known for committing a series of brutal murders.  We dive into the fascinating and dark history of the Harpe Brothers, exploring their lives, their crimes, and the rumors and legends that have grown up around them.  The Harpes proved to be an immensely hard subject to research and pinpoint exact details. Both because of the time the Harpes lived and because rumors and folklore, which can't be confirmed, dominate their story.  Visit guest Amy Schloerb's site! www.thealignedactor.com Patreon:  https://www.patreon.com/astudyofstrange Theme Music by Matt Glass  https://www.glassbrain.com/ Instagram: @astudyofstrange Website:  www.astudyofstrange.com Hosted by  Michael May Email stories, comments, or ideas to astudyofstrange@gmail.com ©2022

For 11 days, she was nowhere to be found, and theories about her disappearance were rampant. Was it a publicity stunt? A case of revenge? Or something more sinister? It's alleged that Agatha Christie never spoke of those 11 days, but on this episode we look into some of the details of this strange story that are often overlooked, and hear from Christie herself.  Visit guest Julisa Wright's amazing business: https://storyboarddelights.com/ Patreon:  https://www.patreon.com/astudyofstrange Theme Music by Matt Glass  https://www.glassbrain.com/ Instagram: @astudyofstrange Website:  www.astudyofstrange.com Hosted by  Michael May Email stories, comments, or ideas to astudyofstrange@gmail.com ©2022 Convergent Content, LLC   --------------   Links: https://www.amazon.com/Agatha-Christie-Eleven-Missing-Days/dp/0720613906 https://www.google.com/books/edition/A
